The second half of our mining double bill takes place on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 3 pm Eastern Standard Time on Zoom. David Abbott will be sharing his experiences as a geologist in ferreting out fraud in the sale of mining securities. His description of his talk is below.
Robert Wayne Garrett of Scituate died peacefully after a brief illness on a beautiful Fall morning, November 18th. Robert was born and raised in Frederick, Maryland and spent much of his youth on his grandparents’ dairy farm. He graduated valedictorian of Frederick High School in 1965, Phi Beta Kappa and Rufus Choate Scholar from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH with a degree in advanced mathematics and economics in 1969 and Harvard Law School in 1972.

As you have heard, President Hanlon and the Board of Trustees have decided on an in-person fall 2021 term at Dartmouth, and we are delighted that it includes an in-person Homecoming. Homecoming Co-Chairs Norman Jacobs and Dona Heller have developed a great schedule of events for the weekend, and I look forward to seeing you there.
In 2009, our classmate, Dona Heller, was adopted by the Class of ’69, along with nine other Pioneering Women. Dona grew up in Hanover as the daughter of a D’35 who was a Hitchcock Clinic physician and taught at Dartmouth Medical School. Before Dartmouth officially went coed, Dona began taking courses at the College in the fall of 1964, when she was a senior in high school.

That she has lived that long is notable, but even more significant is what happened 76 years ago when Rose was liberated from Bergen Belson by British troops.
