Casual Conversation December 15: Paula Kurman about Jim Bouton
On Sunday, December 15 at 3 pm Eastern, Paula Kurman, widow of major league baseball pitcher and author Jim Bouton, will join us for a Casual Conversation. She comes to us courtesy of classmate Chip Elitzer, who writes: “Paula’s book about their [hers and Jim Bouton’s] life together, ‘The Cool of the Evening,’ has just been published. In a way, it’s the completion of a trilogy, following Jim’s classic, ‘Ball Four,’ and his recounting of our adventure together in Pittsfield [MA], ‘Foul Ball Part II.’”

Paul Kevin Tuhus, world traveler, gifted raconteur, collector of odd facts and obituaries of even odder individuals, sworn enemy of all vegetables, and fiercely loyal Dartmouth Alum, passed away peacefully in his apartment at Kendal at Hanover on November 25, 2024.
Casual Conversation November 17: Paul Pillar '69 on partisanship and foreign policy
On Sunday, November 17 at 3 pm Eastern Time, classmate Paul Pillar will be returning for a Casual Conversation on Zoom to discuss with us the thesis he elaborates in his most recent book, Beyond the Water’s Edge: How Partisanship Corrupts U.S. Foreign Policy (Columbia University Press 2023).
Shea, Harry Donald (9/13/2024)
We are saddened to announce the passing of Harry Donald Shea on Sept. 13, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 5, 1947 to proud parents Lucille (Quinnam) and Donald Shea, Harry grew up in a close-knit family in Wiscasset, Maine, as an active youngster, ball player, and industrious paperboy.
At Wiscasset High School, Harry served as president and graduated valedictorian of the Class of ‘65. He was also a four-sport varsity athlete and involved in many clubs, including National Honor Society and the now extinct “Slide Rule Club."
