On 28 March 1971, First Lieutenant John Lawrence Hogan was serving with B Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Artillery, 196th Infantry Brigade, in Quang Tin Province, South Vietnam.
On that day, 1LT Hogan was killed in action when he sustained wounds from artillery, rocket or mortar fire. His body was recovered.
