We want all of you in the virtual room!

April 18 will be an exciting session for our Jewish Cultural Group. The current Dartmouth Hillel Rabbi, Seth Linfield, will be our guest. His bio and photo are below.

Campuses all over the world are facing the critical issue of student mental health and Seth is leading the "charge" on the Hanover Plain. We hope to see dozens of attendees.

Rabbi Seth Linfield

Hillel at Dartmouth is soaring to new heights! For example, 70 students come to Shabbat Dinner every week, and 30 more come out on Saturday afternoons to learn and build community.

Rabbi Seth Linfield is helping to transform Jewish life at Dartmouth through his roles as the Michael Steinberg '61 Rabbi and chief executive of Hillel at Dartmouth. Rabbi Seth also serves and a United Campus Minister through The William Jewett Tucker Center at Dartmouth. Rabbi Seth’s colleagues recently elected him to the national governing board of the Association for Chaplaincy and Spiritual Life in Higher Education.

Rabbi Seth’s calling is to motivate and empower Dartmouth students from all backgrounds in their journeys as human beings created in the Divine Image. He leads with vision, teaches with passion and communicates actively. In cultivating community, Rabbi Seth guides a full slate of learning, social action, social and Shabbat and holiday offerings at Hillel.  In promoting mental health and wellness, he is devotedly available to provide pastoral counseling to students.

Rabbi Seth brings with him two decades of educational experience heading both Jewish day schools and a non-sectarian International Baccalaureate school serving rural, low-income students. Rabbi Seth’s first career was as partner in charge of the Technology Transactions Group at Barnes & Thornburg, an AmLaw 100 law firm. At the same time, he taught management courses at the Mendoza Graduate School of Business at Notre Dame.

He earned a BA in mathematics from NYU, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. a JD from Stanford Law School, and rabbinic ordination from Kollel Tal Torah Yoka in New York. He is a doctoral candidate at USC’s Rossier Graduate School of Education. Rabbi Seth was in the third cohort of the Day School Leadership Training Institute of the Davidson Graduate School of Education - Jewish Theological Seminary in New York.

Rabbi Seth and Deana are the parents of seven children. Rabbi Seth and Deana met at Friday night Hillel services, as did daughter Rachel and husband Michael!
